TeachingTechnique = the realization of the music Since Ilya's prize-winning performances in the 1990's, he has taken time to study, explore new repertoire, and experiment at the piano. His deep interest in the connections between technique and the realization of music underscores every aspect of his teaching style. Ilya has worked extensively with Edna Golandsky studying the Taubman approach to piano technique. His own teaching draws from these inquiries coupled with his years of study in Russia, and his extensive, worldwide, experience as soloist and collaborative artist. Ilya has given masterclasses in the USA, Asia, and Europe. He is a frequent guest teacher at the Juilliard School, and is on the Piano Faculty of the Graduate Program at the City University of New York, and The Golandsky Institute, Princeton.
